Ever since I was budding in my perviness, I have loved dressing men in womens clothing and putting makeup on them. But without consent, I wasn’t getting much of that action until I discovered drag. I became a drag mother to many of my gay friends, helping them with clothing and shoes and makeup. I love drag so much that my friends and I started a drag band. My bandmates were my (gay) best friend and whoever he happened to be serially monogamous with at the moment. My best friend is now a professional drag queen, and he turned me on to RuPaul’s Drag Race. I was instantly a huge fan of the contest show for humanizing and demystifying drag queen personas, I found one of the contestants to be of the realest and most charming variety. Their mantra, “Water off a duck’s back” was repeated as a magical chant to diminish those feelings of insecurity when others were mean to them, and I keep that one close to my heart.
Jinkx Monsoon was the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2013 and I was so thrilled for them! Now imagine how extra super duper thrilled I was in 2023 to receive an email from the producer of Jinkx’s podcast asking me to be a guest!!!
